Reconnecting with leading roboticist David Hanson at Synapse Conclave Gathering & Conference in India

David & his teams in Hong Kong & California create human-looking robots who have realistic facial expressions & which include probably, the world’s most-seen & best-known female robot, named Sophia, who is designed to mimic very realistic human behaviour. Sophia has received widespread media attention around the world & has even been awarded citizenship of a major country. Hanson has been consistently published in materials science, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and robotics journals.

Hanson has shown how precise human looks are a must, if people are going to effectively communicate with robots. He believes social humanoid robots have the potential to serve humanity in a variety of functions & helping roles, like tutor, companion, or security guard. He argues that the  realism of his work has the potential to pose “an identity challenge to the human being," and that realistic robots may polarize the market between those who love realistic robots and those who find them disturbing.
